AIR SERV EMPLOYEES ENSURE THE GOOD WORK OF CHARITY AT ITS BEST IN MEMPHIS

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - It's hard to imagine how many of the charities in Memphis could do the good work they do for others without the help of Air Serv Charter Services. Working with FedEx, Air Serv employees last year transported hundreds of people to charity events. They also helped some sick kids get out of the hospital for one night and enjoy a good time.

"Last year the office of David Bronczek, President & CEO of FedEx Express called and asked if we could take a sick child and some of his friends from St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to see a July 4th fireworks show," reports Tim McLaughlin, Program Manager. "Then the trip evolved from eight people to 90 people. We scheduled drivers and loaded up lunches and coolers of drinks for the children and their families. Everyone had such an enjoyable outing and it was wonderful for these ill children to get out of the hospital for the evening."

Tim also worked with the office of Fred Smith, Chairman, President & CEO of FedEx Corporation, to transport more than 230 students from St. Agnes Academy to various locations for their annual Day of Caring on September 10, 2004. This year they visited the elderly at churches and retirement homes.

A few of their recent events, just from the last quarter, include:

  • Transported more than 100 participants for Andrea Walks, September 8-9, 2004. This walk is organized by the first lady of Tennessee, Andrea Conte, who started a 600-mile journey across the state of Tennessee to raise awareness about child sexual abuse.
  • Transported more than 100 people per day for the Ladies of Charity from September 8-11, 2004.
  • Moved more than 200 people on October 2, 2004 for Plane Pull to benefit Special Kids Foundation at Millington Municipal Airport.
  • Transported more than 1000 people in 14 buses from various locations for Race for The Cure to raise awareness for breast cancer on October 23, 2004.

"We pay the Air Serv employees to drive the buses, but don't pass along that cost," said Tim. "The employees enjoy driving the buses and the charities benefit, so everybody wins."
