Ramp Screening
Even before the events of September 11 , 2001, Air Serv determined
that securing airports and aircrafts were of major importance to the safety of our country. Air Serv takes this responsibility very seriously and holds its employees to the highest standards.
All personnel who enter the ramp area of an airport must wear photo-identification visible on the outside of their clothing and must be thoroughly screened to ensure they are not carrying prohibited items. In order to obtain airport-issued photo-identification, employees and/or contractors go through a rigorous screening process, which includes running their fingerprints through federal government computer records to detect any recordable criminal offenses. If a search of criminal records comes back with a clear background, the employee/contractor must then attend a class and pass a written test on security procedures of the airport. Once these steps are successfully completed, an employee/contractor will be issued a card access badge that contains their photo image.
Air Serv security personnel at ramp area entrances then check all employees/contractors to ensure they are wearing their badge IDs, to make sure the IDs are current and match the person wearing the badge. Sercurity personnel then pass an electronic wand with a portable magtometer over the person and check all bags to prevent prohibited items from entering the ramp.
