Skycap

Air Serv skycaps are trained to greet passengers in a positive friendly manner, and to efficiently transport their baggage from their autos, buses, taxicabs to the screening area. Air Serv is currently providing skycap services in more than seven airport locations.

Skycaps are an integral part of the screening and security process at U.S. airports. Their responsibilities include identifying passengers, comparing their IDs with their tickets, as well as issuing boarding passes and claim checks. Skycaps must appropriately tag and identify all customer bags with the correct routing tags for either international or domestic flights. In many cases, they will be required to handle oversize baggage such as kennels, skis and shipping containers. The skycap is also responsible for communicating wheelchair needs to dispatchers so that prompt passenger pick-ups are assured.

All Air Serv skycaps are trained on the computer so they may quickly read and interpret airline guides, flight schedules and gate information. The skycaps are trained on how to identify and properly handle hazardous materials, security regulations and other operational requirements.
